Another incredible day!

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Thankfully, the weather reports have been wrong!  We were expecting thunderstorms all day.  It was a bit gloomy in the morning, but didn't rain.

We have been lucky enough to stay in 2 other rental homes in the Outer Banks, in Avon.  Both are a bit back from the beach.  We had driveways and pavement.  Here is a look at our stairs going outside:
Beach.  Nothing but Beach.
Brad and I took a walk while everyone was still sleeping.
A few houses down is the house from the movie "Nights In Rodanthe."
It was a beautiful walk!  But very hot and steamy today.

Before we left, Brad staked our claim on the front of our house in the hopes that our "neighbors" will get the hint.  The hint being "We paid a lot of money for this house and would like to sit in front of it.  You can sit in front of your own house."

We returned home to find they had indeed picked a new spot to camp out.  Yay!  It's not directly in front of our house!  But it IS right next to us.  In fact, as you can see in this photo taken from our window, they set up a canopy and tied it to our house.  Yes, they did.

That is our house on the left.  That silver thing is their canopy bag.  Hanging off our house.  Would you EVER???
And they did still decide to sit right in front of our house.
They are in front of our house.  See all that empty room to the right?  That is in front of THEIR house.
Then this happened.  It happens a few times a day.
Keeping the Outer Banks safe.
Everyone went swimming!  It was so hot, and the water is so nice and warm.  We had such a blast!

Hi.  I am crabby.

Ha this one is funny!  Looks like Lea has a super long body.  Those are Lainie's legs.

Lainie and I took a walk in the afternoon.

This one said "Happy 24th Anniversary Robert!" As we stood there reading it and going "aw!," the tide came in and washed most of it away.  But we were left with happy :)

I was standing on our deck during high tide.  That is the ocean going right under our house.  I am still amazed at this location!!!

After a nap for me, and a yummy dinner of burgers and dogs, we drove a bit down the island to the Rodanthe Pier.
Hey, Lainie.  Pay attention.  Stop SnapChatting.  Sheesh.

That's better.

What the heck kind of fish is that?

The pier is a great place to meet puppies.  LOL. This guy was Pepper.

Our house is over there somewhere!

Back home, sat out front for a few minutes until the mosquitos found us.

Some things I didn't get pics or videos of include jellyfish swimming at the pier, and some giant white-ish blob that we never saw clearly, but it was swimming under there!  We also saw sting rays jumping!  I mean, they flew right out of the water and landed with a huge splash!  Very, very cool!

Now it's only 10 pm and we are totally exhausted.

Night night!
